A survey in the summer of 1959 led to a November worship service by 178 people. The survey was conducted by Rev. Frederick Juilfs, who also became the congregation’s first pastor. One hundred ten people signed the charter on January 24, 1960, and on May 1 of that year the congregation was formally organized.
